Hold-to-Call SOS
Holding the SOS button for three seconds texts the current location to every trusted contact and calls the first one automatically; with no contacts added yet, it dials the national emergency number directly, even offline.
Halekin is built for elderly people living apart from their family. Hold the SOS button for three seconds and it texts the current location to every trusted contact and calls the first one automatically — with no contacts added yet, it dials the national emergency number directly, and it works even offline. A daily "I'm Fine" check-in, safe-zone alerts when the phone leaves or returns home, and medication reminders with a full history round out the safety net.
Its name comes from "hale", a warm golden halo of protection, and every design choice follows from it: one task per screen, buttons of at least 72px, and text size adjustable up to 30% larger for tired eyes. Data is stored locally and encrypted on the device; signing in with a Google account is optional and simply keeps the same data in sync across devices. On Android, unrecognised or flagged incoming calls are warned about locally — nothing is read or sent off the phone. Halekin is currently in testing, localised into 12 languages from day one, with a subscription tier planned alongside the free core features.

Mark home as a safe zone and get a private local notification the moment the phone leaves or returns to it — no health data, just distance.
A gentle "I'm Fine" prompt each morning; if it goes unanswered, one quiet reminder follows a few hours later — nothing is sent anywhere else.
Schedule every dose, confirm with one tap, and review the full history; a missed dose triggers a follow-up reminder.
